Paula Melissa Speaking at Create Conference 2020

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I spoke at Create Conference 2020 on Friday 21st February 2020 at Living Rock Church in Leicestershire, on the topic of Creating Visual, Written and Audio Content with a Gospel Message.

I have to say 2020 has been a great year so far. I know we’re only 2 months in, but God has clearly been working overtime because it has been good. You know that verse that talks about God restoring and repaying ‘the years the locusts have eaten‘, yeahhh I felt that!

It feels like all the years of hard work building my brand, learning and developing my voice as a creative is finally starting to produce the visible, tangible fruit of my labour. I’m starting to see traffic and connections and opportunities that I wished for and I’m beyond grateful.

This event was a one-day media and communications conference specifically geared towards people who work (or volunteer) in media and communication teams in churches and Christian organisations across the UK.

I did not even think of this being a sector! But I’ve never felt so seen, being someone who volunteers in my church media team and redesigned our branding and website.

It was amazing (and super encouraging!) to be invited to speak by the host, Benj Lyon and also a HUGE thanks to Ben Elliot for the speaking recommendation.

Can I just say, I really like how my name was being spoken in rooms and spaces that I could never put myself in. Ben recommended me as a speaker to Benj even through I’d only ever met and spoken to Ben once, never told him I am a speaker AND Benj did not even know who I was.

I can’t help and think about the scripture that talks about a person’s gifts and talents making room for him or her and putting them in front of great people (Proverbs 18:16).

I definitely do not mean this in a self-glorifying way at all – what I’m trying to say is that some times you see a spark or glow in someone after spending time or speaking to them. It is so important (and often life-changing!) when you intentionally help make them and other people see that spark. And that’s what Ben and Benj did for me!

YES I am so excited to shake the status quo and get invited in (and conquer) more of these kind of spaces.
